Microsoft has confirmed that they are working on the next generation consoles and its code name is Project Scarlett. It is confirmed to be two versions of the system like the Xbox one has done. Xbox boss Phil Spencer said in June 2018 that Microsoft is “deep into architecting the next Xbox consoles where we will once again deliver on our commitment to set the benchmark for console gaming.” Two consoles are in the works. One version will be a high powered premium machine named Project Anaconda which is reported to be in the $500 range which is in the same price range as the PlayStation 5 and also the same price as when the Xbox one x was released. It is claimed to be four times more powerful than the Xbox one x. T
he other Project Lockhart is a budget machine that is looking to be in the same price range as the Xbox one s ($250). There have been multiple reports that there are multiple streaming devices that are being tested that will utilize Microsoft’s nascent xcloud technology to play games through the cloud. Phil Spencer told us that the Xbox Scarlett will focus on high frame rates and fast loading times. Both Anaconda and Lockhart are stepping up and upgrading their hard drives in favor of the speedy solid-state drives. Project Scarlett will utilize AMD Navi technology, providing the console with a performance boost making it four times more powerful than the Xbox one X. It will jump to be 8k resolution capability and has been said that it can run up to 120fps. When you upgrade from your older generation system all of your saves, friends, games ect. From all of your previous Xbox systems (Xbox 360 pending)will transfer to your new system. Microsoft will also keep utilizing and optimize cross platform/device.
Microsoft has confirmed that these new systems will be released for the holiday in 2020 so parents prepare for seeing this on your children’s Christmas list. I have some great new for all you halo fans out there. Halo Infinite will be a launch title so take this time to plan early to have a date with Master Chief. The next-gen Xbox will also be capable of real-time ray tracing, which means it will be able to go head to head with high end graphics cards and will be capable like the PS5 for the revolutionary light rendering technique. In basic terms, the lighting will be even more realistic and polished. With the speedier solid state drive it has been claimed that it will be forty times faster than the older technology hard drives. This will greatly reduce the load times giving developers the ability to create more complex worlds without worrying about loading times. With all this great info and over a year until the holidays come I would start saving now so you won’t break the bank upgrading your console.
